Runners advance to track regionals

The Manchester boys track and field team placed second at the Plymouth Sectional Thursday, May 18, and will be well-represented at the Goshen Regional this Thursday.
Kyler Dale won the 3200 meter relay with a time of 10 minutes 17.44 seconds, and was part of the third-place 4x800m relay team, along with Raven King, Liam York, and Clark Showalter with a time of 8:45.32.
King also placed second in the 3200m run in 10:27.60 and was third in the 1600m run with a time of 4:37.39.
Kolby Haecker won the high jump with a mark of 6’ 5”.
The 4x100m relay team of Trevor Heath, Memphis Wood, Thomas Rodriguez, and Tyler McLain won the championship with a time of 44.44.
Jordan Ayres advanced in the discus with a second-place heave of 125’ 0”.
Carson Heath also finished in second place in the 110m hurdles in 16.09.
The Squires take a short trip to Warsaw for regional competition with field events and preliminaries starting at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, Wabash placed fourth at the Marion Regional Thursday, May 18, with Southwood finishing in eighth place, and Northfield tied in 11th.
Wabash boasts three sectional championships with Spencer Stout winning two individual events, the 110m hurdles with a time of 15:10, and the 300m hurdles in 39.95.
Stout was also a member of the sectional-winning 4x400m relay team, along with Drew Guenin-Hodson, Coleson Kugler, and Chase Howard, in a time of 3:30.65.
Jonas Church, Howard, Dave Ford, and Kaden Vogel placed third in the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:19.75.
Vogel placed third in the 3200m run with a time of 10:05.04.
For Southwood, Casey Boardman won the 400m dash with a time of 51.67, and the 400m relay team of Zeb Herring, Weston Griener, Cole Winer, and Boardman, placed third with a time of 3:32.46.
Northfield did not have any athlete qualify for regional.
Wabash and Southwood move to the Carroll (Fort Wayne) Regional Thursday, with field events and preliminaries starting at 6 p.m.
