Manchester girls tennis team keeps winning

The Manchester girls tennis team continues its strong season as they look forward to what looks to be the match for the Three Rivers Conference title later this week with Peru.
Manchester 3, Huntington North 2
In a 3-hour thriller, Manchester’s top player did what top players are supposed to do, win the big matches. That’s what Squire No. 1 singles player Sarah Kerlin did Wednesday night, May 3, at Huntington North to lead her team to a 3-2 win over the Vikings.
With the team score tied at 2-2, Kerlin and Huntington North’s Kylee Burrow stayed on serve throughout the final set until Kerlin broke Burrow’s serve at 5-5 to take a 6-5 lead, then held serve to clinch the win for the Squires.
Bethany Penrod picked up the first point for Manchester at No. 3 singles, winning, 6-3, 6-1.
Kate Schroll and Addison Brubaker lost at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, 6-3, and the No. 1 doubles team of Delani Henderson and Carleigh Blevins lost, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.
Myla Crozier tied the team score up at 2-2 with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, leading to Kerlin’s clinching win.
Manchester 5, Bluffton 0
Manchester had no trouble in a 5-0 win over Bluffton Thursday, May 4.
Kerlin won easily, 6-0, 6-1, followed by a 6-3, 6-0 win from Crozier, and a 6-0, 6-0 sweep by Penrod.
In doubles play, Henderson and Blevins cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win while Brubaker and Schroll won, 6-3, 6-1.
Manchester 5, Whitko 0
The Lady Squires keep on rolling with a 5-0 win over Whitko Friday, May 5, handing the Lady Wildcats their first Three Rivers Conference loss while Manchester improved to 5-0 and 11-1 overall
Kerlin faced an early challenge before pulling out a 3-set, 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 win, followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win from Crozier, and a 6-2, 6-1 victory from Penrod.
Henderson and Blevins played another strong match with a 6-0, 6-2 victory, and Brubaker and Ella Bradley teamed up for a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
Northfield 3, Bluffton 2
The Northfield girls tennis team squeaked out a 3-2 win over Bluffton Wednesday, May 3.
Winning for the Lady Norse were Elli Baker and the doubles teams of Eden Hoover and Camryn Kuhn, and Hannah Wilson and Callie Hoffman.
Rochester 3, Northfield 2
Northfield lost a tough 3-2 match to Rochester Thursday, May 4.
Winning matches were the doubles teams of Hoover and Kuhn and Wilson and Hoffman.
Marion 3, Northfield 2
Northfield swept the doubles matches in their contest against Marion Friday, May 5, but couldn’t get the third point needed for the team win.
Winning for the Lady Norse were the teams of Wilson and Hoffman in three sets, and Hoover and Kuhn.
Peru 4, Wabash 1
The Lady Apaches lost a 4-1 match to Peru, Thursday, May 4.
Alexa Johnson won the only point for Wabash, winning her No. 3 singles match, 6-4, 6-0.
