Manchester boys down Wabash
By Eric Christiansen
In a mirror of their contest two weeks earlier, the Wabash Apaches stayed close with the Manchester Squires early, but watched the Squires open things up to run away with the game. This time it was a 57-39 Manchester win.
With three minutes left in the first quarter, both teams' defenses were on display, and the score was tied 5-5. Then things changed.
Manchester's Chase Fierstos scored seven straight points to close out the quarter with a 12-5 lead, and it didn't get any better for the Apaches the rest of the way.
"Our guys came in almost ready to play," Manchester coach Eric Thompson said. "Wabash was fired up and ready to go. I like the way our guys finally got into the rhythm of their game by keeping the pressure on and holding them down."

Early start helps Lady Apaches over Manchester
By Eric Christiansen
NORTH MANCHESTER -- A 12-0 first quarter run gave the Wabash Apaches enough cushion to maintain their lead and hold off the Manchester Squires in a 47-36 Three Rivers Conference win.
Unlike their previous game in the Wabash County Tournament championship game two weeks earlier, the Apaches didn't allow Manchester to get comfortable, but the Squires did their best to stay in the game.
Manchester's Ellie Milam gave the Squires their only lead of the game when she was fouled driving to the basket 18 seconds into the game. She hit one of two free throws for a 1-0 lead, but Wabash took control.
Sydni Mullett scored back-to-back baskets, followed by a free throw and a basket from Bailey Yoakum to make it 7-1 with 5:11 left in the first quarter.
