The Cannonball Disc Golf Club (CDGC) will host the Cannonball Winter Bash Disc Golf Tournament Saturday, Feb. 25, at Wabash City Park.
The tournament will help raise funds to improve the disc golf course at Wabash City Park, according to Josh Tart, CDGC president.
“Through the course of the last year, (the CDGC) played so much that we just said, ‘We love the course but it really needs some improvements made for better players,’” Tart told The Paper of Wabash County. “It’s really beginner friendly, but at some spots it’s just too easy.
“Basically there’s going to be three or four brand new holes and then there’s going to be a couple of old holes that get combined. There are a couple of current holes that just need expanded. So pretty much every hole will have something different.”
The club has approximately $3,000 left to raise for the baskets and other equipment, he continued.
The tournament will be two rounds of 18 holes with six divisions including Open, Women’s, Amateur 1, Amateur 2, Recreational and Juniors.
All-you-can-eat chili and cornbread will also be available for $10.
The event is an occasion the entire family can join in on, according to Tart.
“(The game) is family friendly,” he said. “The whole family can come out here and play a round in about an hour. That’s kind of why we wanted to revitalize (the course).”
Tart also cited developing more challenging holes for advanced players as motivation to revitalizing the course.
Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. with a players meeting set for 9:45 a.m.
Tee off will begin at 10 a.m.
There will be a $10 entry fee for all divisions with 50 percent payout on closest to the pin (CTPs) throws at every hole.
