Phillip "Phil" Ray Goodnight, 38

Phillip "Phil" Ray Goodnight, 38, LaFontaine, passed away at 5:49 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Parkview Wabash Hospital in Wabash. He was born in Marion,  on Wednesday, April 18, 1984, to Otis Ray and Cindy Goodnight.

Phil was a 2003 graduate of Southwood High School. He received his Bachelor's degree at Indiana University in 2019 and was near the completion of a Master's degree with Arizona State University in World War II History. Phil was an avid reader, enjoyed many card games, followed NASCAR and college football, and, most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his mother, Cindy Goodnight of LaFontaine; sister, Amy (Jacob) Lavassaur of Fort Wayne; brothers, Jeff (Dawn) Goodnight of Middletown, Mike (Leisa) Goodnight of TX, and David Goodnight of TX; nephews, Blake and Parker Lavassaur of Fort Wayne and Kole Goodnight of Middletown; nieces, Madison (friend, James Goff) Goodnight of Anderson, Hannah Goodnight, and Michelle (Ben-jy) of Bamburg, TX; four great-nephews of TX; and sister-in-law, Trina Goodnight of Elwood.

He was preceded in death by his father, Otis Ray Goodnight, and grandparents, Glenn (Carol) Haney.

The family is having a Celebration of Life at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at LaFontaine Community Building, 103 W. Branson St., LaFontaine, IN 46940.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN 46952.
