Nancy Pelphrey, 91

Sister Nancy M. Pelphrey, 91, of rural Wabash, Indiana, went to be with her Heavenly Father, surrounded by her family, at 11:45 am, Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. 

She was born April 23, 1925, in Van Lear, Ky., to David and Lula (Mahan) Sluss.

Nancy married the Rev. Richard Lee Pelphrey on Jan, 30, 1946, in Paintsville, Ky.; he died June 27, 1996. 

She retired from U.S. Gypsum in Wabash and also worked many years at Wagners in Wabash.  Nancy was a member of the South Side Free Will Baptist Church.  She enjoyed singing, quilting, gardening, canning, playing her french harp, and going to church. 

She is survived by five children, Charles (Joyceen) Pelphrey of Roann, Roger Pelphrey of North Manchester, Virginia Music of Boons Camp, Ky., Linda (Cledies) Holbrook of Wabash, Deloise Hurst of Roann; 36 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and seven step-grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, William David Pelphrey and Ronnie Dean Pelphrey, six brothers, and five sisters.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at Wabash Free Will Baptist Church, 1056 E. Erie Street, Wabash, with the Rev. Tim Webb and the Rev. Tod Masters officiating.  Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash.  Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash.

Preferred memorial is American Diabetes Association.
