Richard W. McKee, 83, Silver Lake, died at 9:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. He was born Aug. 22, 1930 in North Manchester, to Francis D. "Jake" and Mildred (Michael) McKee.
He was a 1949 graduate of Central High School, North Manchester. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict 1951-1955. On Oct. 15, 1955, he married Carol A. Schenkel. He was a production manager at Peabody Seating, North Manchester, for 34 years and retired in 1984. He was a member of Moose #1518 and American Legion Post #286. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, making people laugh and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Carol A. McKee, Silver Lake; one son, Tony (Cheryl) McKee, Dover, Del.; one daughter, Lori (Ralph Jr.) Dotson, Silver Lake; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Four brothers, Jack, Bobbie, Billie and Thomas are deceased.
Family and friends may call Friday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services will be Friday, Jan. 31, at 12 p.m. at McKee Mortuary. Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
